Peugeot Scooters Launch in China

Peugeot has officially invaded China, with the opening of its first Chinese store in December. This was announced as it displays its new wares at the Shanghai World Expo, running from July 14th through August 15th.

Chinese firm Quingqi Motorcycles will distribute the Peugueot scooters where both companies each a 50% stake. Peugeot will offer Chinese consumers a five-model lineup, comprising of three scooters and two motorcycles, ranging in displacement from 80 to 125cc. All five will be built in China at a plant located in Jinan.

Piaggio MP3 250 Three Wheeler Scooters Debut in Shanghai

The Piaggio MP3 250 three wheeled scooters have made their official debut over at Shanghai and will be officially available starting August 25. The new scooter will be targeted at the Chinese market and will carry high technology and innovations along with some safety standards for safe hybrid scootering.

Vmoto Set to Make Electric Scooters

Vmoto will be making new electric scooters, merging with E-Max to form one new company set to unveil a new line of electric scooters to satisfy the growing demand in the market today. Vmoto will be owning 60% of the new company where it will buy assets and property from E-Max. The remaining 40% will be owned by E-Max shareholders and the new company will be based at Vmoto’s facilities in China. Vmoto estimates that five million of its shares will be issued to some minority E-Max shareholders and be held in escrow for 12 months.

Electric Bikes Facing Imminent Boom and Potential Ban

This is a tale of two countries who have embraced the advent of electric bikes. On one corner there is Britain which has so far been experiencing a rapid boom in the demand and sale of electric bikes. This is to be expected considering many consumers are shifting to electric bikes as a means of transport. On the other end, China is seeking a ban or at least a control on the number of bikes out in the streets. The reason cited are fears that China would be overrun by electric bicycles hitting the streets.

M&M Getting Scooter Parts from China

In a move to probably help bring down pricing to manageable levels, Mahindra & Mahindra is reportedly set to outsource parts from China. As we all know, China has been known for providing alternative parts for practically anything at a cheaper price. M&M has two power scooters in the Mahindra Rodeo and Duro and the Mahindra Flyte.

Obama puts tariff on imported Chinese tires

It seems that President Obama and his staff has recently passed a law that will put a tariff on all tires being imported into the United States from China. This may not seem like a big deal but there is a wide array of scooter manufacturers in the US who use tires imported from China.

Vmoto to Produce 30,000 Scooters

Vmoto Ltd. scored a big one for its company has it has reportedly won a $23 million contract to produce 30,000 scooters for Vietnam. And the sweeter part is that should this order show strong demand, the Vietnam company who placed the order will be purchasing an additional 100,000 units.

The 30,000 Mid Range Retro scooters will be manufactured by Vmoto at its Nanjing, China plant over the next 12 months, with the first batch scheduled to be delivered by August.

Vmoto managing director Patrick Davin says the contract is a great achievement for the company.
