Tougher Moped Laws Pushed in Indiana

After his son was involved in a serious moped accident, Indiana native Arthur Jewel is pushing for stricter laws for riding these usually harmless rides. Apparently his son already lost his license for intoxicated driving but was still allowed to drive the moped which later on crashed to a minivan last may 27.

Jewel’s son is now dealing with serious head injuries. State law views mo-peds as motorized bicycles. Drivers must be at least 15 years old, and those under 18 must wear helmets.

Pep Boys and Baja Inc. fined $5 million

Major US scooter dealer Pep Boys and their scooter supplier, Baja Inc. have bene fined $5 million by the NHSTA in the biggest Clean Air Act case ever.

Pep Boys sold over 241,000 illegal vehicles and engines — most of them scooters and motorcycles — which weren’t in compliance with emission laws.
