Yamaha Set to Double Showrooms for Rural Consumers

Yamaha is all set to double its India-based showrooms which will help aid in the company’s intent to tap the rural market. India Yamaha aims to increase their number of showrooms to 2,000, majority of which will be situated at small towns and rural hubs.

The company is refurbishing some of the existing outlets in small towns and rural hubs and adding new ones called Yamaha Bike Corners, organizing free motorcycle service camps and test rides. Sales of scooters rose 27 percent to 1.46 million units in the year ended March 31.

Honda Ramping Up Activa Scooter Production

HMSI has bared that they are increasing scooter production of their Activa model to 300 per day to reduce the 5-month long wait for the said scooter. If this holds true, HMSI will be increasing their daily production to 2,400 units per day which was originally at 2,100.

There is a high demand, about 3,000 Activas per month in India and hopefully this added quota would help shorten the said gap.

Vespa Coming to India the Third Time Around

Perhaps third time is a charm for Vespa as it once again makes its way to India. This was reported after the Piaggio & Co. board approved a plan to invest nearly e30 million over the next two years to establish a 1.5-lakh capacity plant that will produce a model specially developed for India, the world’s second-largest two-wheeler market.

Honda builds second plant in India


Honda Motor Co. has announced that it has begun construction of a second motorcycle and scooter plant in India, one of the biggest scooter markets in the world. The new plant will expand Honda’s production to 2.2 million units in India. The plant will cost $108 million and will be ready in 2011.

Yamaha Launching New Scooters in India

Yamaha is joining the fray over at India as it plans to launch new scooter lines. At the moment, they are doing their homework and studying market trends. The product line has not yet been named but they will definitely launch a scooter line over at India as bared by India Yamaha Motor National Business Head Pankaj Dubey.
