If you weren’t aware, Piaggio has long been selling a three-wheeled hybrid scooter entitled the Mp3 125 Hybrid. While this scooter featured some pretty impressive specs its slow top speed and immensely expensive price has kept sales numbers frighteningly low.

Luckily, Piaggo has announced today that they will be releasing a beefed up version of the Mp3 called the Mp3 300ie. This new hybrid scooter is said to get up to 141 miles per gallon while emitting only 40 grams of CO2 per kilometer traveled. Additionally, the MP3 300ie features 25 horsepower, 278cc engine which Piaggio says acceleratoes liek a 400cc scooter.

Piaggio assures us that when the Mp3 300ie goes on sale, it will sell for around $11,285 or €9,000.
