One of the things that is becoming increasingly popular that a lot of us have probably seen are these small, personal transporters. These are vehicles that are significantly smaller than any automobile out there and are used to transport people around for cheaper as well as without using a ton of gas. Granted, there is not much speed with them, but when you don't need speed, it is incredibly effective.

Some of these include the Segway which are used by police officers and mall security. It makes patrolling the area much easier because a security guard can get from one side of the mall to the other in a much faster amount of time without being out of breath. If someone is reported shop lifting, this time is very necessary.

Another is DaimlerChrysler's GEM car which is a four wheeled electric vehicle that can go as fast as 25 mph. You wouldn't take it out on the highway or anything, but it can be effective for people having to get around a large factory with much ease.

The primary question people ask, though, is whether or not it is worth it. Is the extra six thousand dollars to buy one of these a necessity. Right now, people might argue no, but in the coming years, these might become the next big thing. No longer will guards walk around, but instead, they will be riding around in one of these.
